Hello everyone and welcome to #sewasoftie month 2019. I am so excited to be part of this tutorial hop brought to you by the wonderful Trixi over at Coloured Buttons and http://sewasoftie.com/
Trixi has inspired so many delightful sewing projects for my students over the years, and I can’t wait to share this one with them, and you all!
The colours chosen were what I had on hand, this is how we work in class, large bag of felt is placed in the middle of the table and the kids get to pick a colour scheme, so feel free to mix this up.
Introducing our little friend Anouk, she is a quiet girl who just loves to dress up. I can’t wait to see what she dresses up as next!
WHAT YOU NEED
21cm x 29cm white felt
10cm x 15 cm dark pink (ears and pocket)
10cm x 10cm peach felt ( face)
5cm x 10cm light brown (hair)
light pink, orange and green felt for cheeks and carrot
fine tip black marker
WHAT TO DO
Use the Anouk_softieTemplate to cut out the felt shapes for Anouk
Glue the hair and cheeks on the face and draw on eyes and mouth. (Feel free to stitch these elements also)
Use red/pink thread to stitch the pocket to the front piece, leaving the top open.
Use straight stitch to stitch the face to the front piece.
Glue the dark pink felt on to the ears.
Pin the front to the back piece and stitch together leaving an opening for the stuffing. I chose to do blanket stitch here, but straight will work.
Stuff and stitch closed. Make sure the tail gets filled out well.
I made an optional carrot which is just orange felt cut out and glued with a green top, I added a little face with a marker. This is a great opportunity to take creative licence and make anything you want to go in the pocket. I would love to see what you come up with!
Happy Sewing 🙂
